Mapping workflow

Similar to spectroscopy, EFTEM is a simple workflow to help you enhance contrast, map and analyze chemicals or elements.

  1. Find the region of interest you want to map

  2. Insert and center an appropriate objective aperture

  3. Align the zero-loss peak

  4. Focus and stigmate the image

  5. Take a thickness map to decide if the sample has the correct thickness to proceed

  6. Move to an energy offset appropriate for type of map you want to acquire

  7. Focus and stigmate at the energy loss

  8. Acquire maps

  9. Adjust manual settings if needed

Follow these step-by-step instructions for the above workflow when you use Gatan Microscopy Suite® (GMS) software.
